This week is Homelessness Week - a time to raise awareness about the widespread impact of homelessness and the challenges faced by people and their cherished pets impacted by homelessness. This is the story of Juliette and her cherished dogs, Princess and Doug.
In 2022-2023, Cherished Pets Foundation received a Federal Government Animal Welfare Grant which allowed us to significantly expand our veterinary and social services for pets and their owners in crisis. This funding was vital in enhancing our community impact and achieving significant animal welfare and social outcomes. While our 2024 application was unsuccessful, we remain dedicated to supporting our community and aligning with government priorities both locally and nationally. Our continued efforts are focused on advocating for and assisting vulnerable individuals and their pets, ensuring that our mission persists and evolves in response to emerging needs.

The Calm Room is a brand new supportive space in Madeley Street which is for pet bereavement consulting, the collection of ashes, euthanasia and pet loss support. Measures have also been taken in the creation of the Calm Room to cater for the needs of neurodiverse people also.
